J.C. Penney to close four Ohio stores

J.C. Penney on Friday announced the locations of 138 stores in plans to close as part of a previously announced consolidation, including four in Ohio.

The store nearest to Dayton on the list is located in St. Mary’s Square shopping center in St. Mary’s

The struggling department store retailer also plans to close stores in Ohio at New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia; Richmond Town Square in Richmond Heights; and Findlay Village Mall in Findlay.

Most stores will begin liquidation sales April 17 and close in June, displacing about 5,000 workers, the retailer said Friday.

J.C. Penney will continue to operate nearly 900 stores.
