A Centerville electromagnetics research business just won a $25 million Air Force contract.

Applied Research Associates Inc. — which has offices at 7735 Paragon Road — has been awarded a $24,725,858 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the research and development of algorithms and tools to produce high-quality radio frequency modeling data, a recent Department of Defense announcement said.

Work will be performed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, here in the Dayton area, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2025, the Pentagon said.

Fiscal 2020 research development, test and evaluation funds in the amount of $100,000 are being obligated at the time of award. The contract came from Air Force Research Laboratory, which is based at Wright-Patterson.

The company began its history as the BerrieHill Research Corp. in 2005.

Two years ago, Albuquerque, N.M.-based Applied Research Associates acquired BerrieHill for the latter company’s capabilities in electromagnetics.

At the time, the local company had 60 employees.
