That’s just a portion of the 1,200 workers the company is hiring in the Cincinnati and Dayton areas. Other job fairs are in West Chester Twp. and Erlanger, Kentucky.
Brammer praised the quality of the applicants and said the company should be able to fill all the positions with the applicants it has received in person and online. “We’ve had great, enthusiastic and experienced people come in today,” Brammer said.
Brammer said store growth and promotions are creating the positions. The jobs, which are union represented, start at minimum wage and offer from 15 to 27 hours per week, store discounts, and potential for fulltime employment down the line, she added. The hires, from counter clerks to chefs, are permanent ones and not seasonal.
Shannon Bell, 27, of Fairborn, hoped to land one. “A good friend of mine works at Kroger, and made the company sound like a great place to work,” he said. The recent Central State University graduate said it helped that he liked to shop there, too.
Rondale Beard, 23, of Kettering, needs more work hours, he said. “I like the people who work there,” he said. “They are very friendly.”
The job fair continues from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Holiday Inn, 2800 Presidential Drive in Fairborn.
