LexisNexis to acquire health care data firm

LexisNexis Risk Solutions will acquire Health Market Science, a top supplier of data on health care professionals and an administrator of one of the largest practitioner-level medical claims databases in the U.S., company officials announced.

Company officials said the acquisition will allow LexisNexis to help commercial and government payers, health care providers including doctors, hospitals and health systems, and retail pharmacy and life science companies manage data in order to address cost-containment issues; support compliance and regulatory efforts; and obtain comprehensive physician sanction and state licensure information.
