LexisNexis VP earns national honor

An executive at LexisNexis Legal & Professional has been honored by the American Bar Association for providing legal services to disadvantaged people in the Dayton region, company officials announced Tuesday.

Kermit Lowery, a vice president and assistant general counsel at LexisNexis in Miami Twp., received the ABA’s 2014 Pro Bono Publico Award, along with four other recipients, on Aug. 9 during the association’s annual meeting in Boston.

The award is presented annually to honor legal professionals and organizations that have enhanced the human dignity of others by improving or delivering volunteer legal services to the poor.

Lowery is the immediate past president and a current board member of the Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project. Officials said he has handled up to 20 pro bono cases a year, in addition to leading workshops and other pro bono initiatives.
