A local Sears store will still stock Whirlpool despite a national falling out between the retailer and the appliance company.

Lavena Marker owns and operates Sears Hometown in Greenville and said she is not affected by the decision by Sears Holdings Corp. to no longer stock Whirlpool.

Marker, who has owned her franchise for 16 years, said the only way the corporate decision affects her is from public perception that they can’t get Whirpool at her store.

“The public needs to understand what’s going on,” she said.

She said the Greenville store operates under an agreement with Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, and they are the source for the merchandise her store sells. Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores has direct relationships with brands in different product categories and Whirlpool is one of those brands.

She said there are more than 700 independently owned and operated Sears Hometown Stores across America that will continue to sell Whirlpool, Maytag and KitchenAid appliances.
