Analysts said weekend performance was poor because of the lack of any new wide releases. “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” came in at the top of the charts — bringing in more than $13 million for the long weekend, followed by “Annabelle: Creation” and “Wind River.”
"There's no sugar coating the fact that this was a very slow labor day weekend," said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for comScore, in an interview with The Associated Press. "This was a fitting end to a rough summer."
Movie theaters in the Dayton region include The Neon in downtown Dayton, Rave Cinemas Dayton South and XD at The Greene Town Center, Rave Cinemas in Huber Heights, the Danbarry Dollar Saver in Huber Heights, and the Danbarry Dollar Saver - South Dayton.

Rave Cinemas is owned by Cinemark Holdings Inc., which reported that its total revenues increased less than 1 percent for the second quarter of 2017.
For the three months ended June 30, 2017, admissions revenues were $449.9 million and concession revenues were $262.3 million. Concession revenues per patron increased 8.9 percent to $3.78 and average ticket price increased 3.7 percent to $6.48 for the three months ended June 30, 2017.
“We remain optimistic about film content for the remainder of the year, as well as the future growth potential that our strong foundation and strategic initiatives provide for our company,” said Mark Zoradi, Cinemark’s CEO.
