Macy’s credit cards to be co-branded with American Express

CINCINNATI — Macy’s Inc. said that under a new partnership, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s credit cards will be co-branded exclusively with American Express and issued by Citi, the issuer of Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s credit cards.

The existing Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s cards will be replaced by the new co-branded cards, Macy’s said Wednesday, March 31. Customers are to be notified that they will be sent the new cards by the end of 2010.

Macy’s, with 850 department stores nationwide, had 2009 sales of $23.5 billion. The retailer operates Macy’s stores at Dayton Mall and the Mall at Fairfield Commons.
