TROY — Marion’s Piazza plans to launch a store here in a year, the company’s first expansion in two decades, president Roger Glass said.
The locally based chain of pizza eateries will build the Miami County store on 2.6 acres on Experiment Farm Road, north of Ohio Route 41. Company executives want construction of the proposed store, which would seat 500, to start this spring, Glass said.
Plans also call for Marion’s to buy property in Mason and add a restaurant there, Glass said. Both the Troy and Mason stores should be operating within the next three years, he said.
Customer demand is driving the company’s expansion plans, he said.
“These are two tremendous areas to go into,” he said.
Marion’s has seven stores in Montgomery and Greene counties and employs 275. The Troy store will employ another 50.
The company last expanded its roster of stores in 1991 when Marion’s opened a restaurant at Town & Country Shopping Center in Kettering.
In 2008, the company also built a new restaurant at 8991 Kingsridge Drive in Miami Twp., Montgomery County, after fire destroyed a previous store there.
Tim Logan, a vice president with Gem Real Estate Group of Dayton, brokered the Troy land deal.
