Marxent to join other tech companies at Austin Landing

Marxent will be moving to Austin Landing from its Kettering’s Miami Valley Research Park home, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

A request has been made for $500,000 in renovations to the future office space for Marxent at Austin Landing, according to a Montgomery County building permit.

In the permit, which county government made available Monday, the project address is given as 10170 Penny Lane. The contractor is identified as Oswald Co. of Cincinnati. The designer is Moda4 Design, of Dayton.

Austin Landing asset and development manager VisCap Development applied for a permit for renovation and commercial work for Marxent Labs, county records show.

Austin Landing is the sprawling, $200 million mixed-used commercial development on the north side of Austin Boulevard, just east of the Interstate 75-Austin exit.

Marxent creates content management software and platforms in the $100 billion virtual reality and augmented reality markets, adapting those technologies for the homes and home furnishings markets.

In January this year, company officers told the Dayton Daily News that steady growth led the company to expand its Kettering office by nearly 5,000 square feet. JobsOhio metrics at the time showed that Marxent received a $1.5 million growth fund loan for the work. (JobsOhio is the state’s private development arm.)

With about 95 workers total in Ohio and Florida — with most of them by far in Kettering — Marxent was looking to add 15 employees in 2018, including an office manager, project managers, software developers and others, said Barry Besecker, Marxent co-founder and chief technology officer.
