Menards’ grand opening to feature sports celebrities, giveaways

MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — Former standouts with the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State University Buckeyes will be a part of a nine-day grand-opening celebration of the 225,000-square-foot Menards “Mega Store” that opened last week at 8480 Springboro Pike (Ohio 741) at Lyons Road just south of the Dayton Mall.

The events will include daily prize giveaways, product demonstrations and special deals on merchandise, as well as the celebrity appearances, according to Menards spokesman Jeff Abbott. The events start Saturday, Sept. 29 and include:

• John Gage, chainsaw carver Sat., Sept. 29th until Tues., Oct. 2nd, daily from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

• Paul Menard, NASCAR driver, on Oct. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The appearance will include free autographs.

• Eric Davis, former Cincinnati Reds outfielder, on Oct. 3 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The appearance will include free autographs.

• Shawn Springs, former OSU Buckeye and NFL cornerback, Oct. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The appearance will include free autographs.

• Ken Anderson, former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback, Oct. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Menards operates 271 stores in 14 Midwestern states, including 19 in Ohio. In southwest and west-central Ohio, Menards operates stores in Tipp City in Miami County and in Fairfield Twp. in Butler County, as well as in Sidney, Celina and Lima.

The new Miami Twp. location employs 100 to 150 people, Menards officials said.
