#myopioidpledge: How a Dayton hospital network is trying to get personal to battle overdoses

A Dayton-based hospital and doctor network is starting a social media campaign against opioid addiction.

Premier Health is asking residents to share on social media how they will commit to take a specific action “to put a dent in the epidemic” including simple steps like promising to dispose of expired prescription medications or to have a conversation with a loved one.

Premier is asking residents to post the pledge on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram followed by the hashtag #myopioidpledge. The posts will be compiled on the website OpioidAssist.com, which is operated by Premier Health and its foundations. For private Facebook accounts, pledges should made as public posts so that they can be detected and compiled on the website.

“So many people have been touched by this epidemic, and it will take the efforts of many people to bring it under control,” said Mary Boosalis, president and CEO of Premier Health. “We hope the social media component of this public-service campaign will serve as a catalyst for action.”
