DP&L names new CEO

The Dayton Power and Light Co. has named Tom Raga as president and chief executive, company officials announced Friday.

Raga assumes the role previously held by Derek Porter, who served as president and chief executive since July 2013.

Raga is a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives and was appointed to serve on the State Controlling Board.

Raga joined DP&L in 2010 as vice president of public affairs, overseeing corporate communications, government relations, community relations and corporate social responsibility. He also is the executive director of the DP&L Foundation.

Officials said the leadership change reflects parent company AES Corp.’s commitment to growing key markets across the U.S., including Ohio.

The company anticipates that this growth will come from a variety of sources including conventional generation and expansion of current businesses. In addition, it is expected that energy storage and distributed energy resources will contribute meaningful developments.

“Tom brings the business experience and proven leadership skills with a clear strategic vision to the role of president and CEO,” said AES U.S. President Ken Zagzebski in a statement.

“At DP&L, he has successfully managed a diverse portfolio of responsibilities and delivered results in our legislative and regulatory strategy all while being an essential partner with the customers and communities we serve,” Zagzebski said.
