The newest Kroger in the Dayton area will feature everything from a wine tasting bar to a bistro with fresh chicken and hot pizza right out of the oven.

The new Kroger marketplace, located at 1161 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road in Fairborn, opens today at 8 a.m., and is a 134,000-square-foot facility — the largest Kroger in the Dayton region, said Mike Gebhart, Fairborn’s assistant city manager. The store is a $23 million investment for the Cincinnati-headquartered grocery retailer, and will employ approximately 350 workers.

City officials will celebrate the opening of the new store at 8 a.m. Thursday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

2. GET COFFEE WHILE YOU SHOP

The new Fairborn store will also have a full-service Starbucks location within the store. Gebhart said another 2,774-square-feet Starbucks location will also open near the Kroger store on E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, and will have a drive-thru for customers.

Customers can stop off for a glass of wine or a beer while stopping at the bank, doing their shopping or picking up a prescription at the pharmacy.
