MOREScholar: Dayton can't hope for a silver bullet

At the time, the Dayton Daily News reported that a spokeswoman for the restaurant chain said several store closings in Dayton and beyond were “temporary” as the burger chain transitioned from corporate-owned to franchise-operated restaurants.

Judy Kadylak, Steak 'n Shake spokeswoman, told the newspaper at the time: "I can only respond relative to the locations that are already closed. They are temporarily closed. I don't have a definitive timeline for re-opening. The timing is based on when we have a franchise partner to run the unit."

The 3,941-square-foot restaurant was built off Interstate 75 and Benchwood Road in 2004.

A message seeking more information about the site’s prospects was sent Monday to a spokesman for Steak N Shake.
