A national chain is opening another pet hospital in the Dayton area.

Banfield Pet Hospital, the largest veterinary operator in the U.S., is planning to open a pet hospital at 6067 Far Hills Ave. in Washington Twp.

The new location will be a part of Washington Square shopping center, also home to Dorothy Lane Market.

A spokesman with Banfield said the company does not have an estimated opening date or the number of people who will work at the new location.

The company’s pet hospitals have services like preventative care, some extended weekday and weekend hours for urgent care, microchipping and some surgical procedures.

Banfield is owned by Mars Corp. — the same company that makes M&Ms — and it has more than 1,000 vet offices, mostly in PetSmart stores.

It also has pet hospitals in Springfield, Centerville, Beavercreek and Miamisburg.
