New salon, spa opens at Liberty Center

A new Liberty Twp. salon and spa is hoping to show off not only its services, but also its commitment to wellness, the environment and the community.

Pure Concept Salon + Spa which opened at Liberty Center in March, uses Aveda products, something it touts as “the best in environmentally friendly hair, skin, and body care.” Services include hair care, skin care, body care and nail care as well as waxing, bridal, fantasy tan and a children’s menu.

Renee Heidrich, president and owner, who opened a location in the Kenwood area in 1994 and in Deerfield Twp. in 2002, said she chose to open the new, 1,700-square-foot location at 7635 Gibson Street in Liberty Center because “after looking at several other locations, as the saying goes, ‘this is where the ducks were flying.’”

“This area is booming,” Heidrich said. “Liberty offers walk-by traffic and one of the big perks to me was that it was a community too. The apartments give us that non-shopper client that other retail locations do not. Liberty Twp. is one of the fastest growing areas right now.”

Having big-name, big-draw neighbors like Dillard’s, Pies & Pints and Hannoush Jewelers also helped sweeten the deal, she said.

Between the three locations, Pure Concept Salon + Spa employs 77 employees.

Heidrich said she entered salon and spa industry after attending an Aveda Congress in 1992 and listening to Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher share his vision of a client’s experience in an Aveda salon.

“I completely saw it,” she said. “I knew I had to create this vision he had planted in my mind.”

That includes calming aromas, scalp massages, “shampoo bed,” warm face towel and mini facial preceding each hair service.

Pure Concept Salon + Spa also extends its vision to helping the community, including raising money for the Ohio River Foundation each April and sponsoring guests and fundraisers that are important to them, Heidrich said.

A grand opening celebration and open house planned for 5 to 8 p.m. April 7 includes refreshments, Aveda mini treatments, a gift, appetizers, spirits and a chance to win an Aveda gift basket, she said.

In addition, the salon’s design team will provide free consultations to those attending, Heidrich said.
