McCoy began his steel career in 1976 in public relations for the former Kansas City Works of Armco Inc. He joined Armco’s former Eastern Steel Division in Middletown in 1987. He held several PR positions with Armco Steel Co. L.P., the successor company to the Eastern Steel Division, before being named general manager, public relations for AK in 1994. He was named vice president, public affairs in 1997 and took his current position in 2004.

With a steel plant in Middletown and corporate headquarters in Butler County’s West Chester Twp., AK has about 6,200 employees in Ohio and other states.
