New sushi restaurant coming to West Carrollton

A sushi restaurant will open in the coming weeks in the space that previously housed the Grub Steak and, more recently, the Patriot Steakhouse at 2098 S. Alex Road, according to the restaurant’s owner and general manager.

The Sushi Club will seat an estimated 140 and will employ 25 to 30, said Robert Sermersheim, the restaurant’s general manager. If all goes as planned, it could open as early at March 1, Sermersheim said.

The restaurant will focus on sushi and will offer an all-you-can-eat option for about $16.99, but Sermersheim stressed The Sushi Club will not serve its sushi buffet-style. “Every sushi roll will be made to order,” he said. The restaurant will also serve a full Japanese menu, including hibachi-style steak and chicken and soba noodle dishes.

Sermersheim and the restaurant’s owner, Guocan Lin, previously worked at Yamato Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi in Richmond, Indiana. The Sushi Club is in the process of obtaining a full liquor license, Sermersheim said.

The new restaurant will be open daily 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Patriot Steakhouse operated in the space from October 2013 to May 2014. Its original location in Lebanon remains open.
