New wine bar, wine shop coming to Oxford

OXFORD — A new wine bar to be called Cru Wine Bar and Shop is in the works in Oxford.

Owner Mike Patterson said Cru will be an extension of Patterson’s Cafe at 103 W. Spring St., utilizing 2,300 square feet of adjacent space in the Stewart Square Shopping Center that was recently vacated by a florist shop. It will seat 40 to 50.

Cru will include a retail wine shop and a wine bar, and will serve a food menu that will focus on small plates, pizza, panini, and fondue, Patterson said. It will also serve a handful of craft beers.

The new wine bar is expected to open by this summer, Patterson said.

Patterson also owns Paesano Pasta House, also in Oxford. The restaurant owner said his interest in wine has grown since opening the Italian restaurant nine years ago, and opening Cru will allow him to utilize Patterson’s Cafe’s kitchen and liquor license after 2:30 p.m., when the cafe closes.

Cru will open at 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, Patterson said.
