Oakwood deli closes for lack of business

OAKWOOD — Cooper’s Deli at 2515 Far Hills Ave. closed permanently today, less than six months after it opened, according to the restaurant’s owners.

“Due to less than anticipated sales, Cooper’s Deli (has) closed,” co-owner Dan Apolito said in an email. “All vendors, employees, taxes and landlord have been paid in full. … We are willing to listen to offers for sale of business or furniture, fixtures and equipment. All employees have been offered jobs at other restaurants.”

Apolito co-owns Cooper’s Deli with Mike Fullenkamp and Scott Dorsten, and the trio also own Archer’s Deli in Centerville and the Stone House Tavern in Waynesville. The other two locations “are doing great,” Apolito said.

The deli opened May 7 and served pastrami and corned beef from New York City, soups and salads, and New York style cheesecake. It recently expanded its menu and hours to include breakfast service.
