The 35,000-square-foot store will employ 45 to 50 people.
Nordstrom operates 271 stores in 36 states. Of those stores, 151 are Nordstrom Rack, which is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom Inc. and carries clearance merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com as well as some merchandise purchased especially for Nordstrom Rack.
Tobis said the new Nordstrom Rack store “will carry a wide selection of apparel, accessories and shoes for women, men and children at 30-to-70 percent off regular prices every day.” Brands will include Hugo Boss, Kate Spade, Trina Turk and Vince Camuto. The new store also will offer on-site alterations and will carry more than 1,000 handbags and “thousands” of pairs of shoes, the Nordstrom’s spokeswoman said.
Geevy Thomas, Nordstrom Rack’s president, said in January that company officials believe The Greene “represents the best of shopping and entertainment in the area, and we are thrilled to be a part of this compelling retail environment. This additional location will make it more convenient for customers who have been making the drive to shop our stores in Cincinnati and Columbus.”
The Dayton-area location is Nordstrom Rack’s sixth in Ohio, including two that opened in fall 2013 in Columbus and Westlake.
