‘Our prices have never been this low ever,’ Mendelsons owner says

As Mendelsons counts down the days to when it needs to clear out of its downtown building, customers can stop in for a bargain or three.

Time is running out for store that bills itself as “the first place to look for every last thing,” at 340 E. First St. in the former GM-Delco building to sell of millions of electronics, antiques, mechanical items, clothing, retro items, dishes and much more.

“Our prices have never been this low ever,” owner Sandy Mendelson said in a release.

The eight-story Mendelsons building, as well as a warehouse and lot at 418 E. First St., were purchased by Crawford Hoying, one of the developers of the booming Water Street District.

The store is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday with thousands of items 60 percent off. It must move millions of items from its more than 550,000-square-foot liquidation outlet by the end of August.

Other items on upper floors will be sold in an online auction beginning June 3.
