7 recent changes that influenced Teradata’s local presence

Teradata will move its Dayton-area headquarters functions to San Diego, the company said in an filing with the government Wednesday.

“As the company evaluated its footprint and identified ways to make its decision-making, systems and processes more efficient, it determined that closing its Dayton office and locating its headquarters in San Diego better positions Teradata for the long-term,” Teradata said.

The Dayton Daily News was first to report that the big data company would close its Austin Landing headquarters. Teradata has about 317 total employees working at its Miami Twp. Austin Landing headquarters. Here are seven recent changes that have occurred at Teradata:

1. GE Aviation, Teradata team up on airline analytics

GE and Teradata — two important employers in Southwestern Ohio — said in October 2017 they will "jointly provide products and services to specified commercial aviation markets" on data analytics. The companies said in a joint statement "flight disruptions can be actively managed by GE with customer experience being managed by Teradata." READ MORE

2. Teradata CEO makes 137 times as much as his employee median

The median pay of Teradata Corp. employees for the 2017 fiscal year was $77,565, according to the company's new proxy statement. Victor Lund, president and chief executive of Teradata, makes 137 times that much, the statement also said. READ MORE

 

3. Teradata leadership change comes as company struggles

A shakeup in Teradata Corp.'s leadership came in May 2016 as the company reported a $46 million loss for the first quarter of the year. Victor Lund, a board member with the Miami Twp.-based company, was named the new president and CEO of Teradata, replacing former CEO Mike Koehler, who the company said resigned. READ MORE

Miami Twp.-based Teradata said it has been named "the technology leader" in an industry report in 2017. A data analytics solutions company, Teradata said the accolade came in "the latest Big Data Warehouse Landscape report, issued annually by The Information Difference, an international data management analyst firm." READ MORE 

5. Teradata acquires U.K. company

Teradata, a Miami Twp.-based data analytics company, said in July 2016 that it has purchased London-based Big Data Partnership, a provider of big data solutions and training. Big data analytics services represent a fast-growing market valued at $40 billion in 2015, Teradata said in a release. Internet-of-Things sensor data and information streams from consumer technologies are fueling growth and raising demand for analysis of information, new data infrastructures and business models, the company said. READ MORE

 

6. Teradata reports lower revenue, better income

Teradata Corp. — one of the most globally well known local companies — reported a drop in revenue and a boost in income in February 2017. The Miami Twp.-based company reported a drop in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2016 versus the same quarter last year, from $719 million to $626 million. 7. Key Teradata exec moves on to new role

A key Teradata Corp. executive has moved on from the company in February 2016. Bruce Langos, former chief operations officer with the Miami Twp.-based data analytics company, left Teradata for a new opportunity.
