The investment arm of a Japanese carbon fiber producer has acquired a Springboro industrial building and offices on three parcels of land for $3.6 million, records show.

The property acquisition is part of Teijin Limited’s overall acquisition earlier this month of all shares of Renegade Materials Corp., which is located at 3363 S. Tech Blvd. Renegade is a supplier of highly heat-resistant thermoset prepreg — high-performance adhesives or fabrics — for the aerospace industry.

The acquisition was completed August 1. Renegade has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Teijin.

The acquisition of Renegade will allow Teijin to expand its aerospace business, including next-generation aircraft engine parts, Teijin said in a release. Questions about the company’s plans were sent to Teijin Wednesday.

Montgomery County property records show that Teijin Carbon Investment Inc. picked up parcels at two addresses — 10800 S. Tech Blvd. and 3363 S. Tech Blvd. — for $3,630,000. The transaction was recorded Monday. (A small part of Springboro is in Montgomery County.)

The seller was Maverick Properties Inc.

A Loopnet real estate listing describes the property as a 37,000-square-foot warehouse with offices on 3.77 acres, near the Austin Boulevard interchange with Interstate 75.

Based in Tokyo, Teijin describes itself as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of carbon fiber products.
