Reynolds acquires California e-commerce business

Reynolds and Reynolds announced Tuesday that the company has acquired TradeMotion, a Del Mar, Calif.-based e-commerce company that allows the sale of automotive parts and accessories online.

Reynolds and Reynolds, which has more than 1,000 Kettering employees, did not disclose terms of the acquisition.

TradeMotion’s technology platform also includes Parts.com, an online marketplace for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and accessories. The site offers more than 20 million OEM items that cover all of today’s major automotive manufacturers, Reynolds said.

“TradeMotion’s technology provides a competitive advantage for dealers selling parts through e-commerce and a proven way for dealers to add a new revenue stream to their dealerships,” Sidney Haider, Reynolds and Reynolds vice president, said in his company’s announcement.

The acquisition is meant to deepen the retailing solutions Reynolds provides to auto dealerships and OEMs, the company said.

TradeMotion integrates with eBay Motors and Amazon, “multiplying the consumer reach for dealers and OEMs selling parts online,” Reynolds said.

TradeMotion co-founder Shawn Lucas will join Reynolds with the acquisition.

“Reynolds is a leader in automotive dealership technology solutions, and we see this as a great fit,” Lucas said in Reynolds’ statement.
