Reynolds buys local company

Kettering-based Reynolds and Reynolds has acquired Med-Pass Inc., a supplier of documents and compliance forms to the extended care sector of the medical industry, Reynolds said Monday. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Miami Twp.-based Med-Pass, founded in 1989, will retain its name and brand and operate as a division of Reynolds Document Solutions, Reynolds said. The company has about 45 employees.

“The senior care market is a growing industry and Med-Pass has developed a strong business model and product line around serving that market with documents and compliance forms, both paper and electronic,” Jerry Kirwan, senior vice president and general manager of Reynolds Document Solutions, said in a statement. “Their brand and products are well established in their market, and they’ve developed significant intellectual property protection to help sustain their competitive advantage.”

“We look forward to continuing to serve our customers with the expertise and service they have come to expect from Med-Pass,” Lisa Hanauer, Med-Pass founder and president, also said in the statement. “Now, we can do so with the strengths and advantages of a larger company behind our brand.”

Reynolds Document Solutions is the original flagship business of Reynolds and Reynolds, which was founded as a business forms printer in 1866 in Dayton. With about 1,400 local employees, Reynolds is a documents and forms provider to auto dealerships.
