Sale of Dayton Dragons closes

The sale of the Dayton Dragons from Mandalay Baseball Properties to Palisades Arcadia Baseball LLC has closed and is now complete, Robert Murphy, the president of the club, said this morning.

Palisades Arcadia Baseball is owned by three friends and Harvard graduates: Nick Sakellariadis, who recently retired following a 35-year investment banking career at Citigroup-related companies; Greg Rosenbaum, a Toledo native and president of Palisades Associates, Inc., a merchant banking and investment firm based in Bethesda, Md.; and Michael Savit, managing partner of the HWS Group, a sports management company that owns Minor League Baseball teams in Mobile, Ala., Modesto, Calif. and Niles, Ohio.

Murphy said the club is planning “meet-the-owners” sessions for Dragons staff and media for Monday, Aug. 25.

None of the terms of the sales agreement — including the price —have been released.

The new owners have said they will keep the current Dragons’ management team in place, including Murphy, who has been the only team president the Dragons have had since their inception in 2000.

The Dragons have placed at the top among all Single-A minor league teams in attendance each season of their existence. The team also has set the all-time consecutive sellout streak in excess of 1,000 consecutive games. The Dragons have sent more than 66 players to the majors.
