AK Steel leadership changes

Gregory Hoffbauer has been elected controller and chief accounting officer of AK Steel Corp. effective Feb. 8, the company said in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission notice filed Friday.

Hoffbauer joined the company and was named assistant controller in January 2011, the Butler County steelmaker said. Before that, he worked at NewPage Corp. as assistant controller, and then later director of accounting before his departure for AK Steel.

AK Steel’s current chief accounting officer, Richard Williams, gave notice of his resignation earlier this month. Williams told AK Steel he is returning to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., as vice president for finance and administration, a position he previously held with the college from 2001 to 2007, according to AK Steel.

Williams has been chief accounting officer since 2010, according to AK Steel. In that job, he reports to the chief financial officer.

AK Steel is headquartered in West Chester Twp. and operates several steel mills, including Middletown Works.

The company reports 2012 earnings on Tuesday.
