“I envision us using the hotel for when our employees, partners, and customers come to visit us,” said Teradata Chief Operating Officer Bruce Langos . “It’s going to be great for the companies that have and are coming to Austin Landing.”
Schippel Construction, based in Botkins, broke ground April 5 on the project expected to cost as much as $15 million, according to Doug Steinke, a partner in the owners, S & S Management.
The five-story, 151,000-square foot complex is to feature 125 rooms and 175 parking spaces, a restaurant, lounge, indoor pool and a 4,500-square foot conference center for 350 visitors.
Steinke estimated hiring 40 to 50 workers to operate the facility. S & S, based in Sidney, already employs about 230 workers at 12 hotels, mostly along the Interstate 75 corridor between Toledo and Cincinnati, he said.
S & S also has an option from developer RG Properties on land for another hotel at Austin Landing, probably a Residence Inn by Marriott, on the development’s east side along Ohio 741, Steinke said. That project hinges on development of a $74-million proton therapy center proposed by the Kettering Health Network on more than 30 acres north of Austin Landing, he said.
By Christmas, a Kroger supermarket will join a Kohl’s department store, Teradata and another office building already open at the site A . By next August, a 14-screen Regal cinema and ice rink are expected to anchor a village of restaurants, retail and offices.
