1. The project still needs funding.
Premier Health and University of Dayton, which jointly bought the 38-acre site, have started to seek funding, and will continue to do so for the next year or two. The university and health system want to find other organizations to bring onboard who would be willing to pay for or help build roads and utility infrastructure such as water and sewer lines.
2. Demolition should start this year.
Before new buildings can be developed, initial infrastructure work will need to take place. Demolition is scheduled to start later this year, said an official with Planning NEXT, which is the planning firm contracted to the project.
3. Construction on the first building could be within the next three or four years.
The first building will be at the corner of Stewart and Main streets. It will not necessarily be “a UD building or Premier building,” but it will likely include “several partners,” UD President Eric Spina said. It will likely take 10 to 15 years for the site to be fully redeveloped.
