This store at The Greene will shut its doors Jan. 26

The Yankee Candle store at The Greene complex in Beavercreek plans to close by month’s end but has not closed yet.

“Your neighborhood Yankee Candle store is closing,” said a sign posted on the door of the store at 79 Plum St. “But that doesn’t mean we’re saying goodbye.”

An employee at the store said its last operating day will be Jan. 26.

The sign invites customers to visit other Yankee Candle stores at the Mall at Fairfield Commons (also in Beavercreek), the Dayton Mall in Miami Twp., Northpark Center in Huber Heights and the Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe.

An employee at the Dayton Mall Yankee Candle store confirmed that the Greene location was closing.

A message was left for a company spokeswoman Wednesday.

Founded in 1969, Yankee Candle says it has a nationwide array of more than 475 company-owned retail stores, as well as a catalog and online business and a North American wholesale customer network that includes more than 19,000 specialty retailers.

Nearly 9,100 store closures were announced last year, some 55 percent more than the number of closures in 2018, according to a report last month from marketing research firm Coresight Research.
