Top NCR Corp. executive leaving company

DAYTON — Peter M. Lieb has resigned as NCR Corp.’s senior vice president, general counsel and secretary to take a similar position with Aon Corp., a Chicago-based provider of insurance and reinsurance services.

Lieb, one of NCR’s senior executives, is leaving the company effective July 15, according to a NCR filing Wednesday, July 1, with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Lieb, 53, had joined NCR in 2006. He managed an international law department and advised the board of directors and NCR’s senior executives.

He previously was senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Symbol Technologies Inc. in Holtsville, N.Y., working for Bill Nuti, now president, chief executive officer and board chairman of NCR.

At Aon, Lieb will be executive vice president and general counsel.

“It was Peter’s decision to take this significant opportunity. NCR wishes him the best in his new role and thanks him for his contribution to NCR’s law department,” NCR spokesman Richard Maton said of the move.

Ned Greene, NCR’s deputy general counsel and assistant board secretary, has been appointed as interim general counsel and board secretary while NCR searches for a successor to Lieb, Maton said.

In 2008, Lieb was paid a salary of $416,045, plus stock awards and other incentive payments that drove his total compensation for 2008 to nearly $1.9 million, according to NCR’s proxy statement to shareholders issued in March. That compared with a salary of $400,023 and total compensation of $2 million in 2007.

NCR, based in Dayton for 125 years, announced last month that it will move its corporate headquarters and nearly 1,300 jobs to the Atlanta area by the end of 2010. The company’s products include automated teller machines, self-service kiosks and point-of-sale business systems.
