Two new restaurants coming to Miller Lane

A new retail center coming to Miller Lane will house two new restaurants, and one of those is part of a sandwich chain that will be making its Dayton-area debut: McAlister’s Deli.

A Fazoli’s restaurant will join the deli in the new development, which will be built adjacent to a Golden Corral restaurant and just up the street from where a new 240-seat, 5,400-square-foot LongHorn Steakhouse is scheduled to open later this year.

The 8,000-square-foot building is valued at $960,000 and has space for a third tenant that has not been named, according to construction permits filed with Butler Twp.

Assistant Butler Twp. Administrator Erika Vogel said the developer is shooting for completion in early July, “if weather cooperates.” She called the development “very positive for the township” and the Miller Lane restaurant, retail and office area.

McAlister’s Deli spokeswoman Robin Blanton said the Miller Lane restaurant is scheduled to open this summer, although other details about the franchise restaurant were not available. McAlister’s, which has more than 320 restaurants in 24 states, has corporate offices in both Alpharetta, Ga. and Ridgeland, Miss. Its menu includes sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts and sweet tea. The deli also offers catering.

The restaurant research and data firm Technomic named McAlister’s as the top kid-friendly fast casual chain in its 2014 Chain Restaurant Consumers’ Choice Awards, and the restaurant industry web site FastCasual.com ranked the chain no. 2 on its “Top 100 Movers and Shakers” list of 2013.

The new Fazoli’s that will share the building with McAlister’s will seat 77 and will employ 40 to 50 people, a spokesman for the Lexington, Ky.-based casual Italian chain said. Fazoli’s operates six restaurants in the Dayton-Springfield area.

“Dayton has always been one of Fazoli’s best markets with a very loyal fan base,” said Scott SirLouis, director of operations for Fazoli’s. “We’re excited about building another restaurant in the city, and we expect it will do a great business because of its strong location.”
