UDRI to help develop auto tensile test standard

The University of Dayton Research Institute and the American Chemistry Council are leading an effort to develop a high-rate tensile test standard for fiber-reinforced polymers for use in automotive applications, according to CompositesWorld, an industry trade publication.

UDRI and the ACC will launch the effort Thursday at a meeting for industry, government and academic officials in Troy, Mich.

UDRI will serve as the key technical contact to organize and help establish a group of interested parties to support development of the standard, according to CompositesWorld. The University of Dayton and UDRI have a long history in materials, structures and mechanical systems research, officials said.

UDRI, the university’s research arm, is headquartered at 1700 S. Patterson Blvd. and has a full-time staff of more than 425.
