The project is described as a remodel of 21,250 square feet of lab space, including 5,540 square feet of added area for duct runs in the basement at the former NCR Corp. headquarters building.
A UDRI spokeswoman said the project is to renovate lab space for its Multi-Scale Composites and Polymers division for research and testing involving composites and nanomaterials.
After the project is completed, tentatively in February 2016, about 15-to-20 researchers will move from Kettering Laboratories on the main campus to the newly renovated space at River Campus.
In November 2014, UDRI obtained a county building permit for a $1.3 million project to renovate the third floor of the River Campus building. About 75 members of UDRI’s Energy Technologies and Materials division are expected to relocate there from Kettering Labs in September, officials said
