Vectren announces 2011 rebates for natural gas-efficient appliances

DAYTON — Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio Inc. has rolled out a revamped offering of financial rebates to encourage residential customers to upgrade to higher-efficiency appliances powered by natural gas.

As the efficiency rate increases, so does the rebate amount, said Vectren, the region’s natural gas provider.

The residential rebates available for natural gas-powered appliances as of Jan. 1 are:

• $300 toward a furnace of 94 percent or higher efficiency rating.

• $200 toward a furnace of 92 or 93 percent efficiency rating.

• $150 toward a water heater, energy factor of 0.67 or higher.

• $50 toward a water heater, energy factor of 0.62 to 0.66.

• $150 toward a tankless water heater, energy factor of 0.82 or higher.

• $500 toward a residential boiler, 90 percent or higher efficiency rating with space heating as the primary use.

Vectren said it did not change the rebate amounts for tankless boilers, nor the rebate programs for small-business customers.
