Verizon Wireless announces New Lebanon cell site

Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in New Lebanon, the company said today, Dec. 9.

The site should let more customers use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages and more, the company said.

The company said coverage should be improved in New Lebanon and along U.S. 35 west of Dayton, including areas bounded by Snyder Road in the east, Johnsville Road in the west, Little Richmond Road in the north and Dayton Farmersville Road in the south.

Verizon Wireless said it has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed — $5.5 billion on average annually — to increase network reach. In the first nine months of 2009, the company invested nearly $240 million in its Ohio network, it said.

Basking Ridge, N.J.-based Verizon Wireless says it has 89 million customers and 85,000 employees nationwide.
