Verizon Wireless opens “smart store” in Huber Heights

Verizon Wireless on Friday will open a newly redesigned “smart store” at 8242 Old Troy Pike in Huber Heights, company officials announced.

The Huber Heights location is one of 1,700 stores nationwide that the company is revamping to help consumers discover all that wireless technology can do for their mobile lifestyles, officials said.

Verizon on Wednesday opened its first “destination store” at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. The new store features interactive “lifestyle zones” where customers can engage with specialists and experience wireless gadgets, apps and tech gear designed to enrich their wireless lives.

Officials said the smart stores showcase the same mobile lifestyle zones as the Verizon destination store on a smaller scale.

Verizon will celebrate the opening of its redesigned Huber Heights store with a $1,000 donation to the Artemis Center for Alternatives to Domestic Violence. In addition, the company will launch a week-long collection of no-longer-used wireless phones to benefit the center, and support Verizon’s HopeLine program that provides wireless phones and air-time to victims of domestic violence and cash grants to local domestic violence organizations.
