Walmart launches own wine label

Walmart is launching its Winemakers Selection of private label wine to 1,100 stores.

The collection is sourced from California, France and Italy and will sell for about $11 per bottle. The move helps Walmart compete with rivals like Target, Aldi and Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s, Lidl and Aldi sell award-winning wines at cheap prices.

It’s a hot market for Walmart to enter right now. U.S. consumers spend an estimated $62 billion on wine annually, according to the Wines & Vines.
