Weiler’s new 3,300-square-foot retail store will open at 7:30 a.m Monday. The gas plant is scheduled to open later this month and will create several new jobs, Chambers said.
Founded in 1920, Weiler is consolidating two existing retail stores at the Sandridge Road location. The store at 2865 Main Street in Moraine will close for good at noon Saturday. A second store at 324 East Second Street in Dayton will remain open until late December, when it also will close.
Weiler’s gas filling operations in Moraine will move to the new facility in the coming weeks after the latter’s gas plant becomes operational, Chambers said.
Weiler is moving a total of about 50 jobs to Sandridge Road. The company in 2011 was granted $100,000 in Economic Development/Government Equity funds to help finance construction of the facility.
Modern laser technology depends on pure gases for applications that range from eye surgery to cutting steel, Chambers said. Weiler previously sold gases such as helium and oxygen, but now the company will be able to fill cylinders with those gases and more at the new facility, he said.
Chambers said this will allow Weiler to service customers in the welding, medical, metal joining and separating industries, as well as area hospitals, laboratories and research universities.
“Anybody that has a need for an industrial or ultra-high-purity gas we will be able to do,” he said.
Weiler also has locations in Fairfield, Piqua, Springfield, Vandalia and Richmond, Ind.
