Wright-Patt Credit Union accepting applications for annual savings contest

Wright-Patt Credit Union is launching its annual contest Savings Race 6 — Health & Financial Fitness Edition with a call for contestant applications.

This year, the Fairborn-based credit union is partnering with health system Kettering Health Network, Dayton Children’s Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House of the Miami Valley. The competition will help Miami Valley residents reduce their medical debt by getting both financially and physically fit for life, credit union officials said.

Here’s how it works: Through the Savings Race, coaches and advisors work with five teams to create a plan to improve their financial and health outlook. Teams receive free education and coaching, and participate in special challenges to teach them how to save better, borrow smarter and create a healthier lifestyle, the credit union said. Cash prizes are awarded to each of the five teams, including a $10,000 grand prize.

The contest last eight months.

“There is a direct correlation between health and finances. A decline or improvement in one area will impact the other,” said Tracy Fors, Wright-Patt vice president of marketing and business development.

Applications are being accepted through August 24. Applications are available at Wright-Patt Credit Union offices, Kettering Health and Dayton Children’s locations, and online at www.SavingsRace.com. Teams will be revealed during a special kickoff event in October.

Wright-Patt Credit Union is Ohio’s largest credit union with approximately $2.5 billion in assets, and more than 240,000 members.
