Man charged in Englewood catalytic converter thefts

A man accused of stealing a dozen catalytic converters from an Englewood business is facing charges.

Murat Shokhzodayev, 24, of Dayton, was charged with theft, vandalism and possession of criminal tools, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court records.

The charges stem from the Aug. 10 theft from an Englewood business.

Shokhzodayev was arrested Saturday morning after he was found with 12 catalytic converters, reciprocating saws and multiple saw blades, according to the Englewood Police Department.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Shokhzodayev is not listed as a Montgomery County Jail inmate.

Catalytic converter thefts have been reported across the Miami Valley this summer. Police departments in Dayton, Riverside, Oakwood, Centerville and Kettering have all received reports of thefts this year.
