Dayton’s favorite resident celebrity once again showed why so many people in these parts love him.

World-famous comedian Dave Chappelle, Best Nationally Known Celebrity in Dayton.com's most recent Best of Dayton poll, hand-delivered tickets to his show to a Charlotte couple Thursday, WBTV  in that city reports.

The couple spent $500 on bogus tickets they tried to purchase from Craigslist.

Chappelle, a Yellow Springs area resident, can be seen surprising the couple in a video posted to Twitter.

"Happy Valentine's Day, you guys," he told Deidra and Eddie Dickens and two others. "I don't mean to interrupt your dinner."

On Wednesday the TV station did a story outlining how the Dickens were scammed and never received four tickets they thought they were buying to Chappelle’s show at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center.

Tickets to his two Valentine's Day shows sold out within 24 hours of being announced last week, according to The Charlotte Observer.

Eddie Dickens often uses a wheelchair and needed an end seat.
Chappelle told the TV station that delivering tickets to the couple felt good.

“It felt like I just got to make something wrong, right,” he said. “And it didn’t hurt me or cost me anything to do it.  I am just happy it worked out.”
