Fraze offers variety of concession food

Fraze Pavilion opened its summer concert series Saturday with jazz legends David Sandborn and Bob James. Jazz and blues guitarist Jeff Golub, an Ohio-native, opened the show.

On a blanket in the lawn section of the Kettering amphitheater, I kicked off my shoes, nibbled on a tasty hot dog and sipped a glass of cabernet while enjoying the evening of mellow music.

With nearly 50 more events listed on its official website, the Fraze will definitely be one of the best places to hear live music in an outdoor venue. Columbus-based country rock band McGuffey Lane ($2 general admission) is tonight’s headliner. Groove for free with Dayton Jazz Orchestra with the Miami Valley Jazz Camp on Wednesday. Hear all your favorite Led Zeppelin songs performed by Get the Led Out on Friday for only $5. Then nine-time Grammy award-winning Sheryl Crow takes the stage Saturday (tickets still available for $51-81). She’ll be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the making of her DVD C’mon America 2003, which was filmed at the Fraze during two sold-performances.

All that music is bound to make you hungry and thirsty, so we want you to be fully informed about your food and drink options while attending a Fraze concert this summer.

Two bucks will get you a chocolate chip cookie or bag of chips while $3 will get you a pepperoni or cheese pizza, or breadsticks by LaRosa’s; a hot dog, a soft pretzel, cashews or a brownie. For $4, try LaRosa’s boneless wings (you get five pieces) or nachos with cheese (salsa, peppers or extra cheese costs $1).

Wash it all down with Pepsi products, Aquafina water, lemonade or tea for $3; Gatorade, Proper, iced coffee for $4 (regular coffee’s $2). Bud, Bud Light, Bud Select 16-ounce plastic, $6; draft beer 20-ounce, $7; and Bud and Bud Light 24-ounce draft, $8. On $2 Tuesdays, pizza, hot dogs and a select beer are only $2 each.

Important to know is that Ernie’s Concessions at the Fraze limits two alcoholic drinks per person per purchase. Also, it’s cash only, but there’s an ATM next to the ticket office.

Another option is to order a box supper before 9 a.m. of the day of the show online or by calling (937) 296-3354. The dinner costs $10.
