If no bids reach the minimum reserve level, Bartusch said he will likely schedule a second auction in late August or early September to sell off items and equipment individually. Doors are scheduled to open at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, and the auction will commence at 6 p.m.
The facility has operated as a restaurant since 1900.
Bartusch, 67, and his wife Jane have owned the restaurant for 35 years. The couple bought it in 1978, two years after Bob Bartusch became manager. When his restaurant closed, it had been for sale for more than a year. Bartusch said the restaurant’s customer base had dwindled because of “age, retirement and death.”
The auction web site includes a photo gallery of some of the memorabilia and antiques inside the restaurant.
