10 restaurants to take mom for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants.

Case in point, the National Retail Association estimates that families will spend $3.8 billion on Mother’s Day brunches and dinners.

Local eateries are ready to serve Miami Valley moms with various palettes.

Call to make reservations and to check availability. Many restaurants, CoCo’s Bistro in Dayton included, are already booked and have stopped taking reservations.

Most restaurants will be open. But we’ve compiled a list of select restaurants are offering special menus items or buffets.

El Meson Restaurant, 903 E. Dixie Drive, West Carrollton; (937) 859-8229

Buffet 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. includes steak enceballado, pollo de los andes, seafood medley in pasta, Mediterranean lamb, omelets Spanish rice salads, fruits, desserts and bread. Kids burrito bar.

Price $28 for adults and $12 for kids older than age 6.

Leo's Bistro at Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton, (937) 223-4278

Seatings are at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Brunch buffet includes fresh fruits, spring salads, meat and seafood choices and desserts.

The cost is $30 per person members, $35 per non-member and $20 for children ages 10 and younger.

Discounted tickets to 3 p.m. performance by Musica, Dayton’s chamber choir.

Music from El Coates and Premium Blend. Ala Carte menu and buffet of breakfast and dinner items. Three seatings: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 1 p.m. to 3 p.m and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The price is $19.95.

Brunch buffet 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The cost is $31.95 per adult and $12.95 for children ages 5 to 17.

Carvers Steaks & Chops, 1535 Miamisburg-Centreville Road, Centerville, (937) 433-7099

Plated brunch 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. costs $18 to $27 each. Regular menu all day long. Entrees are served with bread and soup or salad.

Most brunch specials will also be served with choice of baked potato, mashed potatoes, Au gratin potatoes, french fries, wild rice pilaf or roasted vegetable.

Options include tenderloin hash, Carver’s Eggs Benedict with crab cake or filet mignon, lamb with lavender champagne sauce or Pecan Tarragon Salmon.

Chocolate mousse will be sold for $6.

Brunch buffet at 11:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. include starters, fruit, charcuterie gourmet selection of domestic and international cheese, artisan rolls, carved baked ham, Italian sausage lasagna, lemon garlic rosemary grilled chicken breast, blacked tilapia with a caper butter sauce, cheddar smashed red potatoes, roasted green beans with garlic and fresh grated Parmesan, garlic bread and a variety of salads, drinks and desserts. Special cocktails also will be sold.

The cost is $27.95 for adults and $14.95 for children ages 4 to 10.

Brunch buffet 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The price is $26 for adults and $12 for children ages 10 to 3.

Buffet brunch is 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It includes scrambled eggs, home fries, sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage, smoked sausage, french toast, waffles, baked tilapia Florentine over rice pilaf, grilled chicken breast with mushroom sauce, honey glazed carrots, green beans, mashed potatoes, sliced ham, roast pork loin, prime rib, smoked salmon display, fruit, assorted salad, strawberries and kahlua sauce, brownies, beverages and assorted cakes and pies.

The cost is $23.95 per adult and $11.95 for children ages 5 to 12.

Brunch buffet is is 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It includes Cinnamon Monkey Bread, crumb cake, fruit, scrambled eggs, home fries, grilled chicken breast and roasted tilapia.

The cost is $22 per adult and $13 for children ages 2 to 12.

Brunch buffet will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It includes eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, gravy and biscuits, rice pilaf, chicken marsala, herb roasted vegetables, fruit, carved prime rib and carved honey glazed ham.

The cost is $17.99 for adults and $8.99 for children.
