The Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre is performing this musical version of the hit 1998 comedy starring Adam Sandler. Follow Rob, a rock star wannabe who gets jilted at the altar. When a young girl enlists him to help plan her wedding, his feelings become more than friendly. Apple Butter Festival

This annual fall festival teaches you how homemade apple butter is created. You can also learn about blacksmithing, spinning, and weaving as you sample the final product. There’ll also be food, craft vendors, and music. Check it out at the Hueston Woods State Park Pioneer Farm Museum, 6924 Brown Road, Oxford, on Oct. 7 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tickets are $4. An Evening with Gillian Welch

This critically acclaimed singer/songwriter specializes in bluegrass, Appalachian music, country, and Americana. She contributed two songs to the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” soundtrack. Debbie Davis & John Paxton

Operation Pumpkin

This annual pumpkin and arts festival will feature tons of carved, sculpted, and decorated pumpkins. The largest local pumpkins will compete in the giant pumpkin weigh-off. There’ll also be crafts, live music, pumpkin vendors, and kiddie rides. Check it out along High Street in downtown Hamilton on Oct. 12-14. Shawn Colvin

Shawn Colvin is a veteran singer/songwriter who’s best known for her 1997 hit, “Sunny Came Home.” She released her 10th album, “The Starlighter,” earlier this year. The Great Pumpkin Fest

This kid-oriented Halloween festival will feature wagon rides, a petting zoo, a not-so-scary haunted trail, face painting, a pony carousel, crafts, games, and a costume contest for little ones aged 0-2. 49th Annual Sauerkraut Festival

This annual sauerkraut and arts and crafts festival typically attracts 350,000 people while raising money for local nonprofits. Sauerkraut enthusiasts will find a range of unusual offerings, from sauerkraut pizza to sauerkraut fudge. While you’re munching, you can peruse the 450-plus vendors offering handcrafted sculptures, ceramics, woodworking items, and more. Check it out along Main Street in downtown Waynesville on Oct. 13-14. Hours are 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission cost.
