“If you go out late Thursday night, you can catch it a minute after midnight on Friday (Nov. 19),” he said.
Rave at the Greene will premiere its first IMAX 3-D film, “Tron Legacy,” on Dec. 17.
The IMAX screen gives “Tron” fans more options, Devine said. “They will be able to see it in 2-D, they will be able to see it in 3-D, they will be able to see it in IMAX 3-D,” he said.
The Dayton area’s first and only current IMAX screen is at the National Museum of the U.S. Force, which typically shows aviation-themed IMAX films.
Rave this month completed upgrading all 46 of its Dayton-area screens to digital projection. The process costs up to $100,000 per screen, Devine said.
Rave at the Greene now has four 3-D screens, plus the new IMAX 3-D screen. Rave Huber Heights and Dayton South each have three 3-D screens.
Rave theaters now can show multiple 3-D movies simultaneously, “which was essential because there is just simply more than one 3-D film out in the marketplace more often than not now,” Devine said.
Tickets for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part I" in IMAX are available at the Rave at the Greene box office and online at www.movietickets.com.
