10 things you need to know about Brad Paisley before he comes to town

Brad Paisley plans to help area residents beat winter.

The country music super star known for both humorist and poignant songs will perform his Beat the Winter concert at Wright State University’s Nutter Center, 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway in Fairborn, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb 28.

Special guests on the tour include Chris Young, Danielle Bradbery and Dee Jay Silver.

Tickets are $60.75 plus applicable fees.

General admission pit and reserved seating can be purchased at Livenation.com, Ticketmaster.com, the Nutter Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets and charge by phone at 800-745-3000.

Paisley’s songs include “Letter to Me,” “Whiskey Lullaby,” “This is Country Music,” “Then” and “When I Get Where I’m Goin.”

Here are 10 facts about the country crooner you may not know:

1) He was born Brad Douglas Paisley on Oct. 28, 1972.

2) A sign welcoming visitors to Glen Dale, W.Va., Paisley's hometown, reads "Home of Brad Paisley. Member of the Grand Ole Opry," according to the Washington Post.

3) Paisley first played the Grand Ole Opry in 1999. He was a guest, according to MTV.

4) Paisley's "Time Well Wasted" sold 2 million copies in 2005. The population of West Virginia that year was 1,816,856, according to the United State Census.

5) The voice of the late actor Andy Griffith appears on Paisley's song "Southern Comfort Zone," the first song and lead single from his album Wheelhouse released April 9, 2013.

6) Paisley is known for his love of cowboy hats. Stetson Cowboy Hats calls him a "walking testament to modern-day country's possibilities."

7) The description of Paisley's official Twitter page, @BradPaisley. reads "In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. I was also born."

8) Paisley is married to Kimberly Williams-Paisley, the star of ABC's "Nashville." The couple fell victim to a woman who falsely claimed her daughter was suffering from pediatric cancer. The couple told ABC's Nightline about the hoax in 2013.
